Providing education to overseas students in Australia gives ECU a unique opportunity to build international relationships, increase cultural awareness and expand ECU's presence on the international stage. It accords with ECU's strategic goal of growing internationalisation as set out in the ECU Strategic Plan 2017-2021.
The Australian government imposes strict regulations on universities to ensure the protection and safety of overseas students studying in Australia. These regulations affect all aspects of university life at ECU.
Staff who interact with students, directly or indirectly, must be aware of the University's obligations under the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act) and the effect these obligations may have on staff and students.
Outcomes: This learning module will help you to:
(a) understand the rules governing ECU's registration as a provider of tertiary education to overseas students;
(b) learn about the 2018 National Code; and
(c) identify how ESOS obligations play a role in your work at ECU.
After you enrol, you can access the online course via the Canvas link in your enrolment confirmation email.
