In any one year about one in five adult Australians experience a mental health issue. The vast majority of these people can learn to live a full and normal life if they access appropriate and early support.
This Session has been developed in response to staff requests, particularly academic staff, for information, advice and support in this area.
While people often know a lot about common physical health problems, there is a widespread lack of knowledge and stigmatising of mental health issues that often prevents people from providing appropriate supports.
This Session aims to demystify mental health and provide staff members with information and advice to confidently deal with clients, colleagues and family members who may be experiencing mental health issues.
Contact the Centre for Learning and Development regarding professional development on difficult interactions.
